2014 Summer Youth Filmmaking Intensive

PushPush Offers New 2014 Summer Film Intensive for ages 12-18!

In association with its new GRFX Series, PushPush is announcing an exciting new phase of its signature youth performance camp. We are offering a fun and challenging filmmaking program that gives students the opportunity to develop and produce an original, festival-worthy, short film.

The four-week intensive will be led by PushPush Theater’s Artistic Director, award-winning Writer/Director/Producer Tim Habeger, along with a wide array of instructors from organizations including: the Atlanta Film Festival, Pop Films, The Plaza Theater, Tyler Perry Studios, Screen Gems studios; and from shows like The Walking Dead and more. These industry professionals will provide hands-on instruction in their field. This summer program will culminate in a rough-cut screening for family and friends, and a larger premier screening of the finished film at Atlanta’s historic Plaza Theater this Fall.

The program is open to highly motivated youths age 12-18 (special consideration needed for younger participants) interested in a focused filmmaking experience – in front of the camera and/or working behind the scenes. Through concentrated teamwork and leadership opportunities, participants will not only have professional work to show for their efforts, but also increase their knowledge and skills in such areas as:

  • Film Set Etiquette

  • Acting on Camera

  • The Director’s Job

  • Story architecture

  • Cinematography & Camera operation

  • Costumes & Make-up

  • Editing

  • Art Direction

  • Lighting and Grip

  • Production Assistance

Experience is helpful but not required. However, each candidate must complete our review process, before the course begins, to ascertain their level of participation, motivation, and ability to work within a team.

Space is limited due to the nature of the program, so start the process early.

PAST PROGRAMS:

2013 THEATER/FILM AFTER-SCHOOL WORKSHOP!

2013 Small Tall Camp Curtain Call Pic (800x383)

PushPush’s SmallTall Youth Theater-Film Program is offering a unique after-school workshop focused around the text of Shakespeare’s classic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. With a mix of returning and new participants, we will continue to develop what we began in our summer production. This fall’s program will be a modern telling of this master text using theater, film, games, puppets, and improv.
For the first time, the workshop will culminate in a small tour of performances during the last two weeks of the session. This particular workshop will also include enrichment by a special guest artist (and his puppets!) from Berlin: Florian Loycke from Das Helmi.
SmallTall programs enhance participants’ imagination, communication, confidence, and quick thinking skills, while sensitizing them to team work. Our programs are known for building confidence and for increasing language skills. They are also fun and tremendously rewarding.

Our SmallTall Youth Programs in Theater and Film are modern approaches to classics and significant works of literature for ages 8-18. These programs strive to enhance participants’ imagination, communication, confidence, and quick-thinking skills while sensitizing them to team work. Most of our programs culminate in a final professional production of a work of literary art. Our Theater and Film workshops and camps are challenging and require focus, but they are also fun and tremendously rewarding. though sometimes helpful, experience is not required – just a willingness to play. PushPush workshops are taught by PushPush Artistic Directors, and other leading professionals in their related fields. The programs meet in various locations in walking distance from our offices at 114 New Street, Decatur, GA 30030. We invite your young person to come play!
