ESTHER HALL – “KAREN”
Born in Manchester and trained at Bretton Hall College, Esther Hall is a British actress with numerous credits in film, television, radio and theatre. Television work includes high profile roles in Queer As Folk, Spooks, Silent Witness, Waking The Dead, Rome, Serious and Organised, True Dare Kiss, The Passion, Midsomer Murders, Sons and Lovers, Always and Everyone. Esther has appeared in the films Land Girls and Death On Everest whilst on stage she has worked with The Royal Exchange, Hull Truck Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, National Theatre Studio and Birmingham Old Rep.
DOMINIC COLEMAN – “DUNCAN”
Dominic Coleman is a British actor who boasts an extensive CV in both film, television and stage. Originally trained at Bretton Hall Dominic also trained with DV8 and was a founder member of the award winning theatre company Fecund.
Dominic has performed and written at numerous one man shows for the Edinburgh Festival. He also wrote and starred in the film Special People which won Best Film award at three different film festivals. Dominic’s television regular roles includes BBC 2’s The Cup and Ch 5’s Swinging. Other credits include Miranda, Psychoville, Law and Order, Coronation Street, Krod Mondoon, Rome and Bleak House. Film’s include: Sex Lives of The Potato Men, Weekend Retreat and Clubbed. Dominic is also a sought after voice over artist.
SIMON HARVEY – CO-PRODUCER / “KEVIN”
Simon is an actor, director and producer based in Truro Cornwall.
Weekend Retreat is Simon’s second feature length film as producer, following 2007’s The Midnight Drives with writer / director Mark Jenkin and his first as a leading actor. Alongside his work with film, he is an accomplished theatre director and actor – recent work includes directing One Darke Night and Laughing Gas for o-region, acting in the productions of Superstition Mountain (o-region) BLAST! and The King of Prussia (Kneehigh Theatre), and Assistant Directing on National / International touring productions The Red Shoes and Brief Encounter (Kneehigh theatre). Simon lectures in FILM at University College Falmouth, is resident Assistant Director with Kneehigh Theatre and is o-region’s Artistic Director.
DEAN NOLAN – “GARY”
Dean was born in Truro, Cornwall and trained at the Hub Theatre school before going on to spend five years with The National Youth Theatre performing at the Lyric Hammersmith, the Lowry Salford, Southwark Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral. He has continued his work at NYT as a Company Manager and Workshop Leader as well as working with Warwick Arts Centre, Royal Derngate Theatre, Bill Kenwright Ltd, Salisbury Playhouse, Red Ladder Theatre and Hall For Cornwall. TV and Film includes Ashes to Ashes for the BBC as well as several commercials and short films. Dean is also Co - Artisic Director of “BishBashBosh Productions”.
DUDLEY SUTTON – “PAULIE”
Dudley has acted since 1957, appearing in dozens of films, plays, musicals and TV shows, he also writes and performs comic and political poems and songs with linking memories for shows from Glastonbury, via Edinburgh and festivals and venues throughout the land. Now aged 78, he still feels as if he is just starting out. Whilst Dudley is well known for his long running role as Tinker Dell in 5 series of LOVEJOY, he is still very much an in-demand actor and has just finished filming two new feature films WEIGHED IN: THE STORY OF THE MUMPER with Bob Hoskins, and COCKNEY'S VS ZOMBIES with Michelle Ryan and Harry Treadaway.
DANIEL HARVEY – “DAVE”
Daniel Harvey trained at the Hub Theatre School and was a founder member of Grinning Gargoyle Theatre Company appearing in many productions, including The Body, Scorched, Bile, Trinity Street and The Catch. Recently he played the role of Dwayne Gunwallow in o-region’s critically acclaimed show Superstition Mountain. Dan’s film credits include Kernow’s Kick Ass Kung Fu Kweenz, Final Flight Of The Falcons, The Rabbit and The Midnight Drives.
DENZIL MONK - PRODUCER
Denzil is a producer and educator. He is a founder/director of social enterprise awen productions cic, a director of o-region and was chair of Cornwall Film Festival for 4 years. Over the last decade Denzil has produced hundreds of short films, several longer ones, managed content for web tv, developed media literacy tools and co-written a new global Social Enterprise Qualification; he is currently cultivating a slate of features, including writer/director Brett Harvey’s debut black comedy ‘Weekend Retreat’ (post-production) Barbara Santi’s archive inspired documentary (King for a Day) and writer/director Mark Jenkin’s drama ‘Happy Christmas’ (post-production).
BRETT HARVEY – WRITER / DIRECTOR
Brett studied film at St Helen’s College and Truro College. Since graduating he has written and directed numerous short films and won awards at The Manchester Festival of Fantastic Films, Fresh Five, Viewfinder, Cornwall Film Festival, Frightfest, Total Film Magazine and was the Southwest Regional Finalist in the Orange 60 Seconds of Fame competition at the BAFTA’s in 2008. He has directed promo’s for o-region, Kneehigh Theatre Company, Enjoy Truro and Cscape dance company. His film work has been screened on the BBC Big Screen, Busho festival Budapest, Artkino festival Moscow, Popeller TV, Abertoir Horror Festival and the Celtic Media Festival. Weekend Retreat is his first feature.
MORGAN LOWNDES – DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Morgs trained and worked as a professional photographer before switching from still to moving images. He has shot numerous short and feature length films, music videos, promos and documentaries. He loves to travel and his work has taken him to some incredible locations across Africa, America, Asia and throughout Europe. He also enjoys working nearer to home and is currently working closely with The Eden Project to create Eden project tv, a music, arts and environmental tv channel.
